DM-Cloisonne built on top of a huge tree branch
The map name "DM-Cloisonné" was inspired from cloisonné which is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects such as vases. This design can be found mostly in Asian antiques. And since i'm an antique trader, it inspired me to convert that technique into building's top mixed with gold and marble.
For gameplay, I created a combination of inside and outside play areas in a asymmetrical map to support death match mode.
Design Goal:
-
Create an aesthetically appealing map with unique touch.
-
Create a well balanced asymmetrical map that supports death match gamemode for up to 8 players.
-
Make sure the map is ready for art pass as a whitebox with necessary documents.
-
Create a well detailed level design document that will serve for artists during art pass.
-
Create a map that supports beginners and intermediate player based skill.
Level Layouts
Created a asymmetrical layout that supports different building shapes and verticality.
There are a total of 7 main areas that contain a special weapon and pickups. Each one of these areas include multiple secondary and ninja routes, making the player experience and agency better for any player skill base.
I have also created more layout figures showing weapon placements, pick-ups, power-ups and final level layout.
